We first came to the Loire Valley in Autumn 1997. We had made arrangements to meet a property company, who kindly arranged our accommodation which was a small hotel just below the Chateau in Saumur and overlooking the Loire river. Before we’d even seen any properties that were for sale, we were instantly blown away by the beauty and charm of this elegant little town. We knew this was where we wanted to buy our holiday home, and after being shown several properties, signed immediately, and bought our holiday home in a small village on the edge of the forest called Parcay les Pins, just 2 mins drive from Domaine des Vignes.
In 2001, we decided to buy another property called La Bruzolle, situated in the heart of the forest region, near the village of Vernoil le Fourrier, and you can see from the pictures of the “before shots” – we had our work cut out with this one ! During the next two years we employed local French artisans to restore La Bruzolle, painful it was at times !, but the end result speaks for itself – Domaine des Vignes is truly a jewel in the crown of the Loire Valley.
After years or restoration and spending as many weeks a year as possible at our new holiday home, we decided this was ultimately where we wanted to live on a permanent basis. So in spring 2003 we upped-sticks, horses, dogs, cats and all, and we now live permanently at La Vergne near Parcay les Pins. You can see from the pictures – everyone settled in nicely !!
